Questions and Answers about the back, neck, and spine.

What is the treatment for herniated discs?

The majority of people with disk herniations get well without intervention. Physical therapy, medications for pain and inflammation, epidural steroid injections, and the passage of time can all be helpful. When the pain continues, a 1 hour surgical procedure called microdiscectomy is 95% effective at significantly improving pain.
